It has been nine years since you saw my face. The photograph taken today in the Norwegian capital is of a man who has completed the foundational, total Maksima corpus – after two years of work and curation. Thus, the image marks a culmination. The image you see this time is not of a “serious maverick.” You see earnestness. You see determination. You see sternnes. You see uncompromisingness. You also see a calm – and perhaps a tiny hint of disappointment in the gaze. But most of all, you see determination.
